Carole King

Got to watch Carole King perform on the Today Show this morning. How nice it was. She is a great songwriter. She is still out there doing it. You can be any age if you write and sing. People still care. They just want to be touched and enjoy the music.

I think she had a little touch of something this morning. Her voice was a little scratchy and she had to reach for some notes but that happens. She even made Meredith Viera cry. She loves Carole King.

Next American Band

Looks like the makers of American Idol have come up with another new competition show. The Next American Band. Just what we need, more competition. Should be a fun show to watch. These days it's turning to to all reality shows or game shows. I still love Deal or No Deal. It's just a fun one to watch.

Prank phone calls!

Well I can add prank phone calls to my list of things done to me. This one was bad. I got a call after I had dosed off just before midnight. It was dark so I couldn't see the number that had come up on my cell phone. I answered it and it was a man's voice that I didn't recognize. He mumbled my name and the proceeded to tell me explicit sexual things he wanted to do to me. They were horrific, blunt and non stop until I hung up on him. He then called back less than a minute later. I debated on wether or not to answer. I decided to pick up the phone but stay silent and see if he had the nerve to speak. Sure enough he did, he told me he knew I was listening and proceeded to talk the filth again. I ask he who he was and told him I was calling the police. Steve was upset and came to my defense immediately and called the police himself.

Soon an officer arrived at our door and began questioning me and looked at my cell phone to verify the time and number. Funny thing about the caller, they did not block their number so Steve called it back and it went to voice mail. It was a young guy's voice and he even had his name on there. Anyhow, the officer is running a trace for me. He has been notified not to call me again or I will file charges against him. This is all so disheartening. Good grief!

The most beautiful song written

I was laying in bed this morning listening to the soft calm rain falling. It was so hard to get up. I just kept drifting off back to sleep. Then I would wake up and think some more like I always do. I was thinking about one of the most beautiful songs I think I have heard written. Don't know why it came to my mind this morning. Perhaps God was talking to me. I think He was. It is called "In Christ Alone" Written by ( I will be back shortly with the writers name, I have to make sure it is correct!) and performed so beautifully by an amazing singer named Michael English. Below are the lyrics.

In Christ alone will I glory
Though I could pride myself In battles won
For I've been blessed beyond measure
And by His strength alone, I overcome

Oh, I could stop and count successes
Like diamonds in my hands
But these trophies could not equal
To the grace, by which I stand

In Christ aloneI place my trust
And find my glory
In the power of the cross
In every victory
Let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope
Is Christ alone

In Christ alone will I glory
For only by His grace I am redeemed
And only His tender mercy
Could reach beyond my weakness To my need

Now I seek no greater honor
Than just to know Him more
And to count my gains but losses
And to the glory of my Lord

In Christ aloneI place my trust
And find my glory
In the power of the cross
In every victory
Let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope
Is Christ alone

New co written song with Ande Rasmussen

After months of trying to get a song written with Ande, my Texas songwriter friend we finally came up with a song that I think will work for an American Idol pitch or something down that avenue. The song is called "This dreamer and her dream". Lyrics written by Ande and I came up with the music. We are looking for a powerful female vocalist who can deliver the song for us on a demo. This will be a fun project as it is always a challenge to catch the eye and ear of the American Idol staff. I think if they do it like last year, entries start being sent in sometime in February of 2008. As soon as we get it done I will try to post it. It will be on www.Myspace.com/tammyedwards1 . You can check out my co write with Dave Woods on there currently. That one is Begin at the ending. I am hoping for some good things to happen with that song as well.

My last two days at school (Crazy!)

Well monday I subbed at school and followed one girl around the whole day. She is a twin. It was her 16th birthday on Monday. She and her twin are autistic. Her sister had to go to the physc ward the night before. The gal I was watching I did feel sorry for, she was upkept, her body hygiene got worse as the day went on. If you have ever walked the hallways of a JR high or high school you will know that deoderant or lack there of is an issue! She picked her hand until it bled and she pulled out her eye brow and eyelashes throughout the day. She was a relatively calm gal and appologized profusely for everything she did. I was warned that typing class would set her off. I was prepared. We had to take the school elevator (which I didn't realize we had one) to get her to the 2nd level where the class was. That went fine and in typing class she did great. However because she wasn't as fast as the others she became upset, and began to hyperventilate and panic. I calmed her down and we walked back to the small elevator that only fit the two of us in it. I had to insert a key and unlock the door first. She turned to me and out of the blue said "I feel like hitting someone, someone who is closest to me" I was thinking, you've got to be kidding. I was there alone with her, was I about to get decked? The last thing I was going to do was get on an elevator with her after she said that. I diffused the situation and we made it through the day. Whew! Never a dull moment.

Today, I worked with a 15 year old boy who does not speak. He just says "HEY!" all day long. Try that one on for size. I had to help him hold a pencil and try to trace his name, BRAD. He could spell it all except for the A. He can never put and A in there. In this room were high school kids with so many different needs. The one that stood out to me was a girl that I have no idea what her diagnoses really is, all I know is that she is like a parrot. She asked my name over and over and over again. She repeats the same phrases over and over. One things she said is "Can I pull your hair?" Over and over, she said that to anyone and everyone. Then she says "Move on". That is a comment that the teaches have apparently said to her to get her off the words she is stuck on. She has to sit in a dark room and have time outs. The sign on the door says "I can not talk right now" and then when she behaves the signs says " I can talk now". I am serious, this is totally like what a physc ward must be like. I just had to get out of there. I have alot to be thankful for! If you have your health and your mind you have everything!! Just remember that!

I splurged today! :)

I had the best today. I rarely go shopping because I don't want to spend money, but I had to take my lap top into Best Buy for repairs and decided to buy myself something I have always wanted. I got some Bose earphones to listen to my music on my laptop!! All I can say is WOW!!! I love em!! They were worth every penny. I had to leave a body part behind. LOL! I guess you get what you pay for sometimes. Seems like my whole life has been working on my computor lately. I am sure this is worth it!

I had a fun day shopping at a couple other places. Went to an import store. I love imported items, like chocolate and other fun goodies! We are having a Halloween party this year and I have never had one so we went to a store that sells all kind of fun things like that. I got a pirate girl costume! Now I have 3 weeks to squeeze myself into that. Great! :( I will give it my best shot. It will be a fun excuse to get together with the neighbors.

I am listening to music on these bose speakers, I am in shock! Can't believe how amazing these are!! They could make almost anything sounds great! ha! If you don't have any, you should get some! Ok...more later!

A touching moment

Yesterday I did the music for a funeral for a 76 year old lady. I was so moved as the family stood around her casket. The husband she left behind stood looking down at her with his grandchildrens arms around him. He began to weep. I heard him say how much she loved them all. I felt a lump well up in my throat as I watched him say goodbye to her one last time. He had spent his whole life with this woman. As he walked away he said out loud, "You were a good, good woman." I had to run for the box of Kleenex. It is moments like this that tug at my heartstrings. It's what life is all about. How many people can say they spent their whole life with one wonderful spouse?
